My work focuses on figures, body language and relationships. In much of my work, I represent a figure with only a silhouette and if not a full silhouette, I ensure that a person’s face is always covered maintaining anonymity. I am interested in crowds of people as they are often made up of individuals on their own. A person can be surrounded by many others yet there is no interaction between anyone. My work also looks into how an individual’s posture or gesture portrays their inner life.
Silhouettes allow the viewer to make their own interpretation of who these figures are and possibly remind them of someone in their life or even themselves. Despite the anonymity of the silhouette, I hope people will relate to this in some subliminal way.
I work in many different media including painting, sculpture, printmaking, video and photography.
