Exhale | Bystander Intervention Scotland | Workshop | Thu 30 Jul |
Exhale | Bystander Intervention Scotland | Workshop | Thu 30 Jul
We host Exhale’s Bystander Intervention Scotland workshop offering practical tools for responding actively to race and gender-based harassment in public life for QTIBPoC+.

Exhale will also explore the framing of racist incidents as ‘hate crime’ and find ways to keep each other safe instead of deferring to the authorities (using an ‘abolitionist’ approach).

This workshop is open to anyone looking for support and safety advice following the rise in recent attacks on marginalised communities. It is a space for people aged over 16 years old, who identify as both LGBT+/Queer and as Black or a Person of Colour.

The first half of the workshop includes a presentation, discussion, and the introduction of learning tools, which in the second part will be put into practice.

The workshop will last 3 hours, including a break, and are delivered by two QTIPOC+ facilitators.

This workshop emerged from work with Remember & Resist, a project by Daikon Zine to expand abolitionist thinking and practice within East and Southeast Asian diaspora organising in the UK. Bystander Intervention Scotland grew out of Glasgow Prisoner Solidarity.
