Join

One year's membership of Transmission standardly costs £20 (Full) or £15 (Associate). If you cannot afford the memberships fee, you may invigilate for a day at the gallery instead of paying the membership fee.

For legal reasons (2005 Act; SCIO Regulations) we must ask that members choose either a Full or Associate Membership. Full Members, but not Associate Members, have the same legal liabilities as Trustees, voting rights, and are expected to attend Transmission's Annual General Meeting.

For pitching an exhibition, workshop, event, or residency, use the proposal form and we will respond in due course.

Research

Transmission is home to a unique archive covering more than 40 years of contemporary art in Glasgow. The archive contains extensive records of activities at the gallery, including by many artists of international renown.

Travel & Accessibility

Travel to Transmission

Transmission Gallery is located in the Merchant City area of Glasgow, which is in the city centre. It is easily accessible by public transport, bike, or car.

Train

The gallery is a 15-20 minute walk from Glasgow’s two main train stations: Central Station and Queen Street Station.

The closest local train station is Argyle Street, which is a 10min walk from Central Station heading west and a 10 minute walk from the gallery heading east.

Bus

The closest bus stops are Candlebriggs and Osborne Street, both are just few minutes walk from the gallery.

Bike

Transmission is increasingly well served by cycling infrastructure: it is possible to cycle via bike lane to the gallery from many parts of the city, and there are plenty of bike racks in the gallery’s vicinity.

Car

There is a public parking lot on King Street, just two blocks away from the gallery.

Plane

The closest airport is Glasgow International Airport, which is about a 30 minute journey from the gallery by taxi.

There are also bus links from the airport to the city centre. If travelling by bus from the airport, take the bus to Buchanan Bus Station, which is the city’s central bus terminal and is about a 20 minute walk from the gallery and well served by taxis.

Glasgow Prestwick International Airport also serves the city, though is further away (travel time is around 50 minutes by train from the airport to Central Station). Those arriving on flights to Prestwick late in the evening or early in the morning are advised to check that public transport is running at that time.

Visual assistance

Large print exhibition text is available upon request. Assistance animals are always welcome.

Wheelchairs

Transmission’s main gallery is wheelchair accessible directly from street level. The basement gallery and archive are accessible via the main entrance of Trongate 103.

This website has been developed to conform to the W3C accessibility guidelines for level AA compliance. If you find any part of this website does not meet those guidelines or more generally is sub-optimal for you to use, please do let us know.
